Who You Gonna Call (When You Need A Goalie)? Rob Laurie!

Rob Laurie could make a career out of being an emergency goaltender-for-hire in the Southern California area.

Vancouver's Roberto Luongo was unable to dress for Sunday night's game after being "accidentally run over" by Dustin Brown the previous night in Los Angeles. Backup goaltender Eddie Lack would be making the start against the Anaheim Ducks; however, there was no one to back him up.

The Canucks minor league affiliate is in Utica, New York, 2,721 miles (4,378 kilometers) away from Anaheim, California. Vancouver made the attempt to call up goalie Joacim Eriksson but he wasn't going to arrive in time for the game.

So, they went for Plan C - sign local goaltender Rob Laurie to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

This isn't the 42 year-old Laurie's first go as an emergency netminder. In April 2013, Laurie was signed to the same kind of PTO but for the Ducks. Jonas Hiller fell ill, giving the start to backup Viktor Fasth. Emergency call-up Igor Bobkov's flight from the Ducks AHL affiliate in Nofolk, Virginia arrival was delayed. Laurie took warmup and 3:53 minutes into the game, Bobkov arrived, ending Laurie's brief NHL career until Sunday night. Nice work if you can get it.
