Oakland Raiders linebacker Kaluka Maiava charged with assault

It took about four months, but Oakland Raiders linebacker Kaluka Maiava's assault charges stemming from an incident in Hawaii were finally uncovered.

Just add it to the list of NFL player (and front office) off-field trouble this offseason.

Maiava and his brother Ilima are accused of "beating up two men," the Associated Press reported. They are both charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, and fourth-degree criminal property damage, a petty misdemeanor, the AP said.

The venue of the fight? Life's a Beach restaurant and bar in Kihei.

The alleged incident came on March 17, four days after Maiava signed three-year, $6 million deal with the Raiders. He is a candidate to start at linebacker in Oakland's revamped defense.

The AP reported Maiava and his brother are scheduled to be arraigned in Wailuku District Court on July 25, the same day Oakland's training camp begins.
