Adrian Peterson carted off with foot injury; tweets about refs, snowball-throwing Ravens fans

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson went down Sunday with an apparent foot injury against the Baltimore Ravens and was carted off the field.

And then he took out his anger afterward on the Ravens' fans and the referees.

The injury happened early in the second quarter, when Peterson caught a swing pass from Matt Cassel in the flat. After Peterson was tackled near the sideline by Ravens rookie linebacker Arthur Brown, Peterson fumbled the ball out of bounds and immediately fell to the snowy ground in writhing pain.

Vikings attendants inspected Peterson on the sideline and quickly carted him off the field. The team took X-rays on Peterson's foot, but he was seen walking under his own power by FOX field reporter Jennifer Hale. Peterson was ruled out for a return in the third quarter.

But he was well enough to take to Twitter after the game an express his disappointment in the Vikings' stunning and insane loss.

According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, Peterson's foot injury might not be that bad.

Peterson left the game with 13 yards rushing on seven carries, and one four-yard reception. He suffered a torn ACL in the final game of the 2011 season and returned in remarkable fashion last season, coming up nine rushing yards short of the NFL's all-time mark.
