One Thing to Know: Playoffs or bust for Newton

Cam Newton's statistical production over his first two seasons in the NFL has been unprecedented. He's thrown for nearly 8,000 yards, rushed for 1,400 more and tallied 62 total touchdowns between the ground and the air. But despite all the sparkling numbers, Newton is just 13-19 as a starter and has failed to lead the Panthers to the playoffs.

Carolina GM Dave Gettleman has hinted that Newton must reach the postseason in order to solidify himself as the cornerstone of the franchise, and with the success of Russell Wilson, Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III in mind, Mike Florio agrees.
