Joe Lauzon & Chad Mendes win UFC main card fights

The UFC's most exciting fighter, Joe Lauzon, snapped a two-fight losing streak Saturday night on the UFC on Fox 9 card. Lauzon used take downs, submission attempts in each round and bloodying strikes on the ground from on top to earn a unanimous decision win over Mac Danzig in the main card's opening bout.

Scores were 30-27 across the board for Lauzon, who entered the Octagon tied with long time middleweight champion Anderson Silva for most fight night awards in UFC history. The win was the lightweight's 10th in the UFC.

The TUF winner Danzig has now lost three fights in a row.

Chad Mendes wins fifth straight

Chad Mendes looked to be on his way to a history-making fifth straight KO win early on in his fight against Nick Lentz, landing with thudding right and left punches to his opponent's head. Lentz survived the initial onslaught, however, managing his own hard shots in the first and second round.

In between, Mendes was able to score take downs at will on Lentz through two rounds. Lentz opened the third round pushing the pace on Mendes, with solid body kicks and punches to the head while switching stances.

Mendes, obviously tiring, fought flat-footed through the final round and begin to struggle to get take downs or to keep Lentz down once he scored one. Despite losing ground in the third round, Mendes was able to run out the clock and win the decision.

Scores were 30-27 (twice) and 29-28 for Mendes, who has now won five straight fights since losing to featherweight champion Jose Aldo in 2012. Lentz' loss was his first at featherweight and first in four fights.
