Twins closer Glen Perkins buys a round of beer for fans during rain delay

Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Glen Perkins is good at closing out games, but he's also good, we've learned, for opening up bar tabs.

Perkins, who has already proven this season that he'll go out of his way to help fans, added another gesture to his "nice guy" résumé on Saturday. He bought a round of beer for a group of Twins fans that had retreated to Hrbek's Pub inside Target Field during a two-hour-and-four-minute rain delay. Fox Sports North reports:

At some point during a respite that drove many fans away from an already-thin contingent —Minnesota trailed the Tampa Bay Rays 4-0 after 3 ½ innings when the tarps first came out — Glen Perkins bought a round of drinks for some folks on a pub crawl. Parker Hageman, a Twins blogger that apparently helped organize the event, thanked Perkins via Twitter.

Free beer is always a win, and a group of diehard Twins fans getting it from an All-Star who is also one of the team's most likable players? Well, that's even better.

Perkins is one of the most enjoyable MLB players to follow on Twitter, and he's cool enough to laugh at himself when he pitches with his fly down. Plus he talked to Big League Stew about bullpen cars for an Answer Man interview. What more could you want in a closer, really.

Cheers to you, Glen Perkins.
