Before Ryan Braun was suspended for 65 games on Monday for violating MLB's drug policy, the Milwaukee Brewers star had a history of adamant denials about the performance-enhancing drug accusations that have followed him since his 2011 MVP season.
Braun won an appeal in 2012 to eliminate a 50-game suspension and then became a central figure in the Biogenesis scandal. Both times he vehemently denied PED use.
In retrospect, Braun words are damning — hollow proclamations of innocence that we now know were nothing more than lies.
