Report: Goldman probe widens

Reports indicate that investigators in New York are planning to widen their probe into banking giant Goldman Sachs and its role in marketing mortgage securities that touched off the 2008 financial meltdown.

Prosecutors with the Manhattan district attorney's office have subpoenaed investors, including some hedge funds, seeking details on how Goldman sold the mortgage securities, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The probe began after the U.S. Senate released a lengthy report in April on the causes of the financial crisis.
