The LookoutMan suspected in failed bank robbery goes on to rob again
Authorities in Ohio are searching for a man suspected of robbing a bank on Monday, a day after he failed to rob a different one.
On Sunday in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, police responded to a call from a bank where they say an unarmed man wearing a nylon stocking mask, blazer and Cleveland Browns baseball hat approached a bank teller window at about 3:30 p.m., demanding cash. There was one slight problem, according to Cleveland.com: The teller had just gone to the restroom and had locked her cash drawer, taking the key with her:
A customer representative who was on duty found it was locked and told the suspect so, although he did not go into detail on the reasons why. Although the robber initially told him to "stop stalling" and hand over the money, the robber was forced to leave empty-handed. He was last seen leaving on foot eastbound through the parking lot between Rick's Cafe and the bank, which is open from noon to 4 p.m. Sundays, police said.
Footage from a surveillance camera showed the man—described by witnesses as a white male in his late 30s or early 40s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 225 pounds, with collar-length brown hair—removing the stocking from his face.
On Monday, a man matching that description robbed a bank in Hudson, Ohio, about 15 miles south of Chagrin Falls.
According to the FBI, the man "wearing a Browns ball cap, a sports coat and collared shirt" brandished a gun just before 3 p.m. at the U.S. Bank.
According to WKYC-TV, he "waved a pistol around" but left. No injuries were reported in either incident.
