Booking photo of Colorado theater shooting suspect James Holmes is released

Following the first court appearance of suspected Colorado theater shooter James Holmes, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office released his booking photo on Monday. The 24-year-old is the lone suspect in Friday's shooting that left 12 people dead and 58 others injured at an Aurora, Colo., midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises."

During the hearing, Holmes, who was transported from a holding cell to the courtroom via an underground tunnel, appeared dazed. His brow furrowed. His head bobbed. His eyes opened and closed often. His hair was dyed a cartoonish orange-red. His hands and feet were shackled. He did not speak.

Holmes is expected to be formally charged by prosecutors on July 30 during his next scheduled court appearance.
