With a celebrity client list that includes Michelle Pfeiffer and Tom Cruise, legendary stylist Sally Hershberger is on the cutting edge of the hottest summer trends for your tresses. Hershberger’s predictions for this sultry season is all about bohemian chic and wavy, textured hair. The best part: these looks are easy to achieve so you spend less time in front of the mirror and more time next to the pool. Here are a few hot tips to help you coif a celebrity style at home.

To get bouncing, rolling waves, simply sleep with a braid in your damp hair. If it’s too late and you’re already feeling the burn of a bad hair day, accessories are the ticket. Headscarves, wraps or headbands are definitely the way to go and are the perfect antidote for unruly hair. The real beauty of this summer’s style, however, is that less is more so dump your fear of fly aways and body and let your locks flow free. It’s all just part of your effortless summer style!

To protect your hair before heading to the beach, Sally recommends avoiding shampooing too often as this removes moisture and dries your hair out. Also, avoid hot tools during the summer months so your locks don’t turn into lobsters. Salt water, sun and chlorine are the enemies of color treated hair so if you do color before vacation, be sure to cover your hair and treat with conditioning treatments and color stay shampoo.

When it comes to summer hair, the best looks require minimal effort, defy humidity, and match up with your beach bod to pack a boatload of sex appeal. So put a spring in your step and some bounce to your ‘do and get out there and soak up the summer.
