Couple takes in pregnant dog so she can have 12 puppies ‘in a home, not in a shelter’

Six puppies who were found abandoned in a Dumpster this summer are now healthy and ready to be adopted.

Dog rescuers Chris and Mariesa, who already live with eight rescue dogs, recently took in a pregnant dog named Storie from an animal shelter.

"We took her out of the shelter so she could have the puppies in a home, not in a shelter," Chris said, adding that they were essentially fostering for Pibbles and More Animal Rescue.

Eighteen hours later, Storie gave birth to 12 puppies.

And while Chris and Mariesa found it difficult to say goodbye to the adorable pups — they even toyed with the idea of adopting one of them — they were happy to learn that all 12 puppies were adopted by new loving families.

Chris' best friend, Ryan, adopted Storie.
