Alphorn players - all 508 of them - gathered on the on the Gornergrat ridge in front of the Matterhorn mountain near Zermatt, Switzerland on Saturday to break a world record.
The players, all decked out in traditional Swiss costume, played a piece specifically written for their alpine horns — the wooden alphorn can be up for four metres long and is traditionally used to herd animals. It became the largest ensemble of people ever playing the instrument.
