Carnage alert: Snedeker, O’Meara, Kapur among those taken down on Day 2

The greens at Muirfield were like greased ice on Friday, and many a fine player saw his lovely Thursday scorecard turned into a burnt, sodden mess by Friday afternoon. Chief among those was Brandt Snedeker; the world's steadiest putter suddenly looked like he couldn't remember which end of the club to hold. Three doubles and a triple weren't just the bogeys that Snedeker recorded; it was his drink order of whiskey at the pub afterward. (Zing.)

Snedeker carded a 68 in the first round, good enough for a tie for fourth, and followed that up with a catastrophic 79 in the second, dropping him to a tie for 39th. Oh, but he wasn't the only one. Consider the following precipitous drops:

Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano: 70 to 79
Tom Lehman: 68 to 77
Mark O'Meara: 67 to 78
Shiv Kapur: 68 to 77

Perhaps Jonas Blixt, who "only" fell from 72 to 78, summed it up best in a postround tweet:
