Breaking Mother! Bryan Cranston Returning to 'How I Met Your Mother'

Walter White's fate on "Breaking Bad" may still be unknown (at least, until this Sunday's series finale), but we know where Bryan Cranston will be this fall!

CBS announced that the three-time Emmy winner is returning to "How I Met Your Mother (which is also in its final season) to reprise his role as Hammond Druthers.

Kids, in case you don't remember, Hammond was Ted's awful boss at his old architectural firm. He fired Lily, who was temping, for stealing his baseball signed by Pete Rose. Later, Ted became Hammond's boss when the former's design for a building was chosen over the latter's.

Ted ended up firing the jerk right when he got his divorce papers giving him his dead dog's remains (ouch). Clearly, Hammond survived the ensuing heart attack.

The guest starring gig would be Cranston's first TV acting job after the end of "Breaking Bad." After that, he's lined up a movie project — "Trumbo," about the screenwriter who was among a group blacklisted in the late '40s.

Cranston has said that he chooses his roles based on a complicated points system. As he told the New Yorker, "An actor can only raise the level of bad writing by a grade."

"How I Met Your Mother" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
