"Cops" — a show that combines the thrill of UFC fighting with the excitement of 400-meter dashes in the Olympics — is moving to Spike after 25 years at Fox.
Feel old yet? It's been on the air since the first President Bush was in office (actually missing Reagan's term by only a couple of months). It's been on one more season than "The Simpsons" and has aired almost twice as many episodes (903 to "The Simpsons'" 530).
It's older than Jennifer Lawrence, Soulja Boy, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse and, though they have more Oscars (one), platinum records (one), and Teen Choice nominations (one), respectively, "Cops" has more Emmy nominations (four).
Residuals for the band Inner Circle (who performed the show's theme song) probably put some or all of their kids through college.
In the clip above, two officers chase down a guy in a hoodie. If the officer in the video had an 18-year-old daughter, he would definitely think that "Cops" would be way too old to be dating her.
The show will maintain its longtime 8 p.m. Saturday-night slot and premieres Sept. 14 on Spike.
