Russian dashcam captures surreal road-rage incident featuring Mickey Mouse and SpongeBob SquarePants

Thanks to countless dash cams in the country, every funny, scary and downright weird road incident appears to get captured on camera — and ends up on YouTube.

Two weeks ago, we viewed a motorbike accident worthy of an action flick.

And today, we’re just a little baffled by a road rage incident that took place in the wee hours of Saturday morning in the Russian city of Chelyabinsk that involved four familiar characters.

When a ticked-off driver approached a minivan, ready to start a fight, he didn’t expect to be met by Mickey Mouse, SpongeBob SquarePants, Scrat from “Ice Age” and what appears to be the Russian character Luntik, all ready to kick some butt.

As the characters kicked the driver, the passengers in the vehicle recording the bizarre fight burst into fits of laughter.

It’s not every day that you see SpongeBob get into a fight.

The viral hit has been viewed more than 2 million times.

According to the Moscow Times, some media outlets speculated that the scene was a staged one:

"At the start of the video, the passengers can be heard discussing municipal elections, which take place in Chelyabinsk next Friday. The clip may have been produced by spin doctors to generate publicity ahead of the vote, news website Znak.ru reported."

This isn’t the first viral video from a dash cam in Chelyabinsk. Last year, footage of a meteor strike made headlines worldwide.
