Time mag poll: Turkish PM takes the lead

Although Time magazine's editors select 2010's Person of the Year, the publication's readers also get to have their say online.

After a week of voting, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is in the lead, with Lady Gaga second and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange third. Don't tell Meghan McCain!

The rest of the top five includes three media personalities who host cable shows and held major rallies in Washington, D.C., this year: Comedy Central hosts Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert and Fox News star Glenn Beck.

But all this is subject to change.

Some nominees are now reaching out over social media for votes before the poll closes on Dec. 12. The WikiLeaks Twitter feed urged supporters this week to "protect WikiLeaks from assassination or extradition: VOTE for Julian as Time Person of the Year."
