Tim Tebow sets Twitter, TV records

Tim Tebow did more than help lift the Denver Broncos to a 29-23 playoff victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday: he set Twitter and television records in the process.

Tebow's 80-yard touchdown pass on the first play of overtime resulted in a record 9,420 tweets per second, Twitter reported on Monday--the most frenzied response for any sporting event, and second overall in tweet rate. (In December, "Castle in the Sky," a Japanese anime film, sparked more than 25,000 tweets per second when it aired there.)

Meanwhile, the God-fearing quarterback also boosted CBS, which broadcast Sunday's Broncos-Steelers game, to a 25.9 overnight Nielsen rating--making it the highest-rated NFL wildcard game since 1988.

CBS will likely benefit from Tebowmania once again Saturday, when the Broncos face the New England Patriots and Tom Brady in primetime.
