Lindsay Lohan on ‘Letterman’: Plenty of Quips and Short-Winded Confessions

Lindsay Lohan seems to have mastered a few things: mugshots, making messes, and poking fun at herself, for starters.

The 26-year-old stopped by "Late Show With David Letterman" Tuesday night to promote "Scary Movie 5," but mere seconds after she sat down, Letterman jumped in to quiz the star on her upcoming trip to rehab.

Instead of answering most of Letterman’s direct and rapid-fire questions, LiLo – who will enter a rehabilitation center for 90 days on May 2 as part of a plea deal to avoid jail for a misdemeanor traffic accident – did what LiLo does best: make sarcastic comments, roll her eyes, and good-naturedly flirt with the host.

When Letterman asked how many times she's been in rehab, Lohan, wearing a floral dress and a messy-chic up-do, merely quipped, “several.” Asked what she was “rehabbing” for, the actress, whose film opens Friday, smirked at the audience before dodging the question, saying, “We didn’t discuss this in the pre-interview.”

Another question was answered with the quip, "Now you sound like Dr. Phil." (Point for Lindsay!)

While she didn’t give straight answers to almost all of the queries, blaming her issues on a “phase,” being a “target,” “immaturity,” and “family issues,” Lohan did get teary-eyed after Letterman said he was proud of her for having the guts to come on the show. But she quickly recovered her breezy demeanor, taking a sip out of her mug and quipping, “Oh, I thought this was gonna be vodka.”

Still, the actress is trying to look on the bright side. "To be honest, I'm the happiest when I'm working and the healthiest and I think this is an opportunity for me to focus on what I love in life, and I don't think it's a bad thing," she said. "I think it's a blessing, and not a curse."

Letterman began his interview admitting to making jokes about the troubled starlet, "true and otherwise," and even asked if she routinely "steals stuff." Lohan, who was a good sport throughout the entire appearance, immediately joked about nicking the mug on his desk.

In addition to rehab, Lohan must complete 30 days of community service, pay an undisclosed fine, and attend 18 months of psychological therapy.

Fingers crossed that her sixth stint in rehab (yes, sixth!) will be her last.
