WATCH: Driver Rescued From Truck Dangling Off Bridge

A truck driver in Brazil was left dangling precariously off a bridge for nearly 30 minutes before being pulled to safety.

Driver Aguinaldo da Silva was traveling on the nearly one-mile long Chavantes bridge in Brazil Saturday when he lost control of his truck after a car stopped abruptly in front of him, the BBC reported, citing the local news website Npdiario.com.

The abrupt stop sent da Silva's truck veering to the side, which caused the truck's cabin, in which da Silva was sitting, to come to a stop dangling over the bridge's edge.

Da Silva remained inside the truck in that position for nearly 30 minutes as rescuers feared the bridge would give way.

"The bridge began to shake and there were fears that it would collapse," a witness, Valcir Machado, told Npdiario.com.

Rescuers were finally able to pull da Silva from the cabin using a rope and he escaped without injury.

The bridge, which connects the states of Sao Paulo and Parana, was closed for repairs after the accident.
