Tumblr to Live-GIF Debates

GIFs - animated photographs like the ones above - have taken over the Internet and they're about to take over the presidential debate coverage. Well, at least on Tumblr.

The popular blog and website service will dedicate a team to building animated GIFs from the debates. That means short clips of Romney and Obama's awkward faces and their odd hand gestures will be almost instantaneously posted to the Web.

All the animated photos will be posted to Gifwich, a page so full of GIFs your eyes will hurt. Naturally, Gifwich is built on Tumblr, making it very easy for Tumblr users to repost or reblog their favorite debate GIFs on their own websites or Tumblr sites. According to Tumblr's announcement blog, the live GIFing starts at 9 p.m. ET, exactly when the first debate does. The team plans to keep making the GIFs well into the event, and from the looks of the samples, don't be surprised if a cat or a rainbow or two get thrown in the images.

If you're looking for more than just humorous clips of the candidates, you can also tune into ABC News' live debate coverage. We will be streaming the debates live on ABCNews.com and also on YouTube.
