Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen Welcome Daughter in Home Birth

ABC News' Bianna Golodryga Reports:

The first glimpse at Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen's brand new baby daughter, Vivian Lake, appeared on Bundchen's Facebook page Friday.

But what really got people talking is the fact the newborn was delivered not in a hospital, but rather, in the comfort of the couple's Boston home on Wednesday.

"We feel so lucky to have been able to experience the miracle of birth once again and are forever grateful for the opportunity to be the parents of another little angel," Bundchen, 32, posted on her Facebook page following the birth. "Vivian Lake was born at home on December 5. She is healthy and full of life."

Tom Brady spoke to ESPN's Mike Tirico about the birth of his new daughter, the first girl born to the couple.

"I grew up in a house with three sisters so I think it's great for my boys to have a girl in the house, just to understand a little bit of what makes a woman tick," Brady said. "She's a beautiful little girl."

Little Vivian's birth wasn't the first at-home delivery for Brady and Bundchen. Their son, Benjamin, was also born at home in the family's bathtub, something the supermodel described as a "natural" experience in the documentary "Business of Being Born."

"My job as a mom that I felt at that moment was just to breathe, relax and allow my body and trust my body to do what it knows, naturally knows what to do," Bundchen said.

While doctors say only about one percent of births now happen at home, more and more couples are choosing to forgo the hospital, in part because of celebrity influence.

"It looks like it's starting to be more popular," said ABC News medical contributor Dr. Jacques Moritz. "Celebrities, Gisele, Ricki Lake and others like her, Cindy Crawford are making this more popular."

"At that moment, I felt like I could conquer the world. I felt like 'Give it to me. I can take it.' Like, I just felt so empowered, you know. I felt so ready. You can throw anything at me. And I can take it. I can do it. Just tell me what," Bundchen said on the documentary.

Still, doctors caution staying home isn't always the best option.

"People have to realize that they're not celebrities and they have to have a good backup system and good plan if something goes wrong," Moritz said.

Brady, 35, and Bundchen confirmed they were expecting in August after months of media speculation about her swelling stomach.

Bundchen keeps her fans updated on her Facebook page, where she recently posted a picture showing off her yoga moves. She also tends to keep a positive attitude and wrote to her followers in a post, "Children are our most valuable resource. We need to cherish them."

Bundchen was named the top earner on Forbes' annual list of highest-paid models of 2012, a title she's held for six consecutive years. Bundchen is best known for her role as a Victoria's Secret model. She and Leonardo DiCaprio ended their high-profile, five-year relationship in 2005.

Bundchen and Brady were also named the world's highest-paid celebrity couple of 2011.

Brady played college football at the University of Michigan and was drafted by the Patriots in the 2000 NFL Draft. As a Patriot, Brady has led his team to three Super Bowl wins, earned two Super Bowl MVP awards and became the first quarterback in NFL history to lead his team to 10 division titles. In 2010, Brady signed a four-year, $72 million contract extension.

The Patriots are preparing for tonight's game against the Houston Texans at 8:30 p.m. EST on ESPN.

The power couple tied the knot in 2009.
