Have you ever really wanted just to pick up the phone and chat with Nadya Suleman, the so-called Octomom? Or dial Dina or Michael Lohan, Lindsay Lohan's infamous parents? Maybe it never crossed your mind to talk to them. But now, for better or worse, they are just a phone call away.
Dial-a-Star.com, a new website launched a week ago, is making this all possible - for a price, of course. The website offers users the chance to talk in real time to 27 "celebs" it has signed up for varying charges. To speak to Octomom? It'll cost $12.00 per minute. To hear Angelina Pivarnick, formerly of " Jersey Shore," in her "Joisey" accent? That'll cost $15 per minute.
Gina Rodriguez, owner of Dial-A-Star.com, told ABC News she started it as a way for celebrities to speak directly with their fans.
"I manage several controversial personalities and receive a lot of fan mail and emails requesting to talk to my clients. So I created Dial-a-Star.com so the celebs can communicate with the fans and followers," Rodriguez said.
The website calls itself "the only place you can talk directly to a TRUE Celebrity!" That might be debatable, but it does say your paid-for conversation is completely private.
"Our service is unique and offers a completely discreet one on one conversation with celebs. This service is completely private and anonymous. The celebs cannot see your phone number, address, e-mail, or billing details," the website says.
Rodriguez told ABC News that Suleman receives 50 percent of the money made from these calls and said she has been doing really well since she signed onto the website.
As you'll recall, Octomom briefly became a media star when she announced she was pregnant with eight babies at once, in addition to six other children she already had. She delivered them in January 2009.
"She sets the days and times she will take calls and she answers all of them if possible. If she is on a phone call, the fan can book a session to speak to her," Rodriguez said.
