People's Sexiest Man Alive 2012 Is Actor Channing Tatum

He can dance. He can act. He can cook. He recites poetry. And he's gorgeous.

Actor Channing Tatum - who had audiences swooning when he appeared as a stripper in the 2012 film "Magic Mike" - has been named People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive 2012.

The actor joins the select club of Hollywood heartthrobs who have taken the title since the magazine first began bestowing it in 1985.

Actor Bradley Cooper, who appeared in "The Hangover," is People's 2011 Sexiest Man Alive. Previous Sexiest Men include Mel Gibson, Nick Nolte, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Pierce Brosnan, Johnny Depp and Richard Gere.

Tatum, 32, hails from Alabama. He reportedly loves giving massages to his wife, actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum, and wants to start a family.

"I'm ready; I think she's ready," he tells People in the issue that hits newsstands Friday. "The first number that pops into my head is three, but I just want one to be healthy and then we'll see where we go after that."

"It's really easy for us guys to say, 'I want like 15 kids,'" he continues. "Jenna will be like, 'Well you better get another wife!'"

The special issue also names worthy celebrity men in several other categories, including Men of the Year; Chill Guys; Sexy at Every Age - which recognizes stars in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s; 50 Shades of Grey (which names salt-and-pepper-haired heartthrobs), and Hot Dogs, which lists Hollywood's dog lovers.

Game show host Wayne Brady and "Drive" star Ryan Gosling are among the Hot Dogs, while newlywed Justin Timberlake and "Taken 2? actor Liam Neeson are on the Chill Guys list.

Former President Bill Clinton, President Barack Obama, CNN host Anderson Cooper and "Skyfall" bad guy Javier Bardem are on the 50 Shades of Grey list.
