Michael Strahan Rumored to Be Permanent Live! Co-Host

Michael Strahan Rumored to Be Permanent Live! Co-Host (ABC News)

It could be "Live! with Kelly and Michael" come Sept. 4.

Multiple news sources have reported that New York Giants Super Bowl champ and frequent "Live!" guest co-host Michael Strahan has been tapped as the permanent replacement for Regis Philbin on the daytime talk show. The show announced earlier this week that Kelly Ripa's permanent co-host would be named Sept. 4.

"All bets are on this guy," "GMA" correspondent Linsey Davis said on "Good Morning America" this morning.

A rep for Strahan was spotted Tuesday outside the Manhattan building where "Live!" is staged, "grinning from ear to ear," according to gossip website TMZ.

Strahan, a former defensive star who won a Super Bowl ring in 2008, is a studio analyst for Fox's NFL coverage. Strahan would co-host "Live!" in New York during the week and fly to Los Angeles on weekends for his duties on Fox, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Strahan, 40, also starred in "Brothers," a short-lived Fox sitcom in fall 2009, and has appeared in several commercials.

Since Philbin said goodbye in November, speculation about who would fill his chair has been rampant, everyone from Ripa's husband, Mark Consuelos, to Bravo's Andy Cohen to Rob Lowe to Seth Meyers.

"Live!" has employed various guest co-hosts, including Jerry Seinfeld, Kim Kardashian and Neil Patrick Harris, since Regis left.
