The pop superstar and singer of the 1995 hit song "Fantasy" has been named godmother of the new Disney Cruise Line ship named, aptly, the Fantasy.

Carey gave birth to twins on April 30 last year and given her new mommy status, she seems a natural choice for the job as godmother of a Disney ship that will no doubt welcome countless families.

Disney is the parent company of ABC News.

Carey, who is married to actor and comedian Nick Cannon, is a native of New York, a connection she'll share with the ship. The Fantasy is the first in the Disney fleet to be christened outside of Port Canaveral, Florida.

The 4,000-passenger ship arrived in New York City Tuesday and is the fourth ship in the Disney cruise line fleet. It bears significant resemblance to its sister ship, the Disney Dream, which took its maiden voyage on January 26, 2011.

The Fantasy, however, has a few new features, including new live shows, tweaks to the on-board restaurants and an alternating seven-night Western-and-Eastern Caribbean itinerary. (Disney Dream sails shorter itineraries in the Bahamas.)

Jennifer Hudson was the godmother of the Disney Dream, the last ship added to the fleet. Hudson got an early break in her career as a performer on the Disney Wonder in 2003, before she wowed audiences on American Idol.

The Fantasy will take its maiden voyage on March 31, from Port Canaveral.
