Lindsay Lohan’s publicist says the furor over the actress’ Wednesday morning hit-and-run is “much ado about nothing” and the charge against her “will be cleared up in the coming weeks.”

“While some of the facts are still being gathered, it appears that this is much ado about nothing,” Steve Honig said in an email to ABC News. “We are confident this matter will be cleared up in the coming weeks and the claims being made against Lindsay will be proven untrue.”

Lohan was arrested early Wednesday after a “low speed crash” in which she allegedly struck a man with her Porsche, according to the NYPD. Cops said the 26-year-old actress was parking a 2010 Porsche Cayenne at 1 a.m. in an alley crowded with people outside the Dream Hotel when she struck a man.

The man, who the NYPD said is in his 30s, complained of being struck and was taken to Bellevue Hospital for a knee injury.

After the incident, Lohan entered a club adjacent to the Dream Hotel. Police arrived at the scene and arrested Lohan at 2:30 a.m. She was charged for leaving the scene of an accident, a misdemeanor.

Lohan was taken to New York’s 10th Precinct and issued a desk appearance ticket. She was released pending a later court date.

Police said there is no suspicion that any alcohol was involved in the incident.

Two men who were in the vehicle with her at the time were not charged.  The Porsche Lohan was driving is not registered to her, according to cops.

The problem-prone star is on informal probation for her 2011 necklace theft case until May 2014. Her only requirement, a judge said at a May court hearing, is to obey all laws. The judge added that if Lohan broke any laws, she could face a jail sentence of up to 245 days.
