Katie Holmes Celebrates Independence Day Sans Tom Cruise

Independence Day, indeed. Katie Holmes celebrated the Fourth of July sans Tom Cruise, buying hamburger supplies and eating ice-cream with daughter Suri in Manhattan.

"I'm alright," Holmes told the New York Daily News as she pushed a shopping cart carrying Suri through the Whole Foods Market in Chelsea. A security guard accompanied the pair.

Meanwhile, a new interview with Holmes reveals that she may have been plotting her divorce months before filing legal papers on June 28. In late May, she was asked about Cruise for an Elle magazine interview to be released July 17.

"He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years, I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that," she said, adding that being married to the movie star, who was just named among the world's highest-earning actors by Forbes, didn't make her career any easier.

"If anything, you work a little bit harder when you're in such visible circumstances," she said.

Holmes already has plans for her career post-Cruise. According to Women's Wear Daily, her clothing line Holmes & Yang, which she co-founded with stylist Jeanne Yang in 2009, will stage its first-ever runway show at New York Fashion Week in September.
