Sandy Stops Production on NYC Sets
Hurricane Sandy isn't sparing Hollywood. According to Deadline, multiple New York-based TV series suspended production today in anticipation of the storm, including "Gossip Girl," "The Good Wife," "30 Rock," "Law & Order: SVU," "Smash," and "666 Park Avenue."
The Los Angeles-based "Jimmy Kimmel Live" is in New York this week, and though Kimmel said on "Good Morning America" this morning that his shows would go ahead as scheduled, he announced this afternoon that today's taping is canceled. "Though it pains us to do it, JKL from #Brooklyn tonight is cancelled," Kimmel tweeted. "I'm disappointed too, but we want you to be safe."
A Comedy Central representative told ABCNews.com that tonight's tapings of "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" have been canceled. Repeats will air instead. The status of tomorrow's shows will be evaluated as the storm progresses.
For now, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" and "The Late Show With David Letterman" are set to tape as scheduled.

Deadline noted another side effect of the hurricane: lower box office returns on what was already a weak weekend, thanks to Halloween parties, football, and the World Series. Many theaters in New York City - the country's second biggest movie market after L.A. - shut down early Sunday and remain closed today.
