Bobbi Kristina Brown Not Engaged to Nick Gordon

Bobbi Kristina Brown, the 19-year-old daughter of late pop icon Whitney Houston, is not engaged to Houston's so-called adopted son Nick Gordon, according to a representative for the teenage girl.

Bobbi Kristina has been spotted wearing a large diamond ring in the past few days, fueling speculation that the teen has become engaged to Gordon, who she once referred to as her brother. A representative for Bobbi Kristina told People magazine that the pair is not engaged.

"She is just wearing her mom's ring," a source told the magazine.

Gordon previously denied to ABCNews.com that he and Bobbi Kristina are dating, but the pair was photographed at the end of last week walking hand-in-hand while Bobbi Kristina appeared to be wearing a large diamond on her ring finger.

The ring, a huge square-cut diamond, appeared to be the same one that Houston wore around the time of her death. Bobbi Kristina was seen wearing the ring on her left hand amid reports that she and Gordon are engaged.

According to sources close to the family and a TMZ report, Houston invited Gordon, who often referred to Bobbi Kristina as his little sister, to live with her more than 10 years ago after learning that his birth mother could no longer care for him.

TMZ originally reported that Gordon and Bobbi Kristina broke the news of their engagement to friends at a backyard barbeque this past weekend, and then kissed in front of everyone. The website said they brushed off the suggestion that grief had brought them together.

Speaking of how Houston felt about the 22-year old Gordon Whitney Houston's brother Michael Houston, told ABCNews.com that he was "like a son to her."
