Blizzard-like conditions slam Southern California mountains, close schools

Areas of the San Bernardino mountains were blanketed by snow during blizzard-like conditions which prompted officials to close most mountain-area schools Friday morning.

Motorists traveling through the snowstorm on icy roads through Big Bear and Running Springs reported whiteout conditions at times.

The conditions were so bad Friday morning that both Bear Valley and Rim of the World school districts declared a snow day Friday for most schools.
