"As someone familiar with pizza, like most Americans, I can say it's excellent here; I highly, highly recommend it," said Blinken.

The pizza restaurant was founded by Leonid Ostaltsev, a veteran of the Ukrainian army who volunteered to serve during the 2014-2022 war in Donbas.

Ostaltsev eventually established Veterano Group, a company running several pizzerias, cafes, a pastry shop, and a bar.

He hired fellow Ukrainian veterans to work at the restaurant, and they regularly deliver free pizza to soldiers recovering from their wounds in Kyiv hospitals.
