Blasts in Ga. where gunman holding 4 firefighters

SUWANEE, Ga. (AP) — One big explosion followed by several smaller ones or gunshots have been heard in the Georgia neighborhood where a gunman is holding four firefighters hostage in a home.

At about 7:30 one explosion shook the area and authorities moved onlookers and media farther back in Suwanee, about 35 miles northeast of Atlanta. More blasts followed.

Authorities say five firefighters responded to the call in Suwanee and were eventually taken hostage by an unidentified. The gunman released one of the firefighters to move a fire truck.

Two ambulances were seen leaving the subdivision.

SWAT teams and hostage negotiators are on the scene.
