POTTSVILLE, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — An embattled brewery went ahead with its free beer bash on parade day in Pottsville.

Black Rock Brewing Company hosted its St. Patty’s party on the grounds of the business hit by a kitchen fire last spring.

As 28/22 News first told you Wednesday, city officials pressured the brewery to cancel the event citing the entire property as condemned.

Under the threat of a citation, the owner decided to still go ahead with Saturday’s event which also featured live music and a food truck.

“Oh yeah, we’ll fight any fine or citation they give us. There’s absolutely zero reason that we shouldn’t be able to have this event for our community on Saint Patty’s Day,” said Bobby Weaver the owner of Black Rock Brewing Company.

“Support him yeah support him if enough people show up maybe the city of Pottsville will back off and not give him a citation,” added Anthony Rizzuto from Schuylkill Haven.

The owner of Black Rock Brewery is working to fix the fire damage in hopes of reopening soon.
