Black Horse Pike accident kills bicyclist in Atlantic County

HAMILTON – A bicyclist died in a collision with an SUV here.

Arthur Herz, 61, of Mays Landing, was killed around 8:20 p.m. on May 17 on the Black Horse Pike near milepost 45.5, according to township police.

A preliminary investigation indicates Herz entered a westbound lane on the pike and collided with a Jeep Cherokee.

Herz, who was not wearing a helmet, died at the scene.

The driver, a 21-year-old Blackwood man, was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The accident closed the road for about four hours.
