Black Friday weekend 2018: Today's best UK deals
Much like Boxing Day, Black Friday was born as a day-long shopping successor to a major holiday's retail closures – the US Thanksgiving celebrations, to be exact.
Yet in the years since, the growth of online shopping convinced many big brands – Amazon, John Lewis and Carphone Warehouse, to name a few – to prolong the savings for several days afterwards.
And so Black Friday weekend arrived - offering deals on a wide range of products. But fear not, if you're kicking yourself for missing out yesterday, as you still have a chance to buy that must-have item at a reduced price, because many deals will extend over the weekend.
There are many incredible deals still available in-store and online – here are The Telegraph's top picks.
Our favourite Black Friday deals so far
Apple iPhone XR with 100GB of data
Free upfront for £36 per month and 100GB of data on Vodafone from Mobiles.co.uk
We didn't expect to see the iPhone XR get such a hefty price cut this Black Friday, as Apple's products are only rarely available at a sharp price cut. The iPhone XR only came out last month but trusted retailer Mobiles.co.uk, which is part of Dixons Carphone, has reduced the price of a contract on this model. These third parties often offer better deals than you can find on the networks and we think this is the best value offer you will find on an iPhone today.
It comes with an ultra-fast processor, an all-screen 6.1-inch display and you can choose between five snazzy colours. This deal is available free upfront at £36 per month.
This deal gives you 100GB of data, which is as much as you will ever need. Compare that to what you would be paying on normal networks – similar offers we have found see you handing over £50 up front or paying up to £59 per month. This is the iPhone deal to beat so far.
LG 65SK8000PLB 65-Inch Super UHD 4K HDR Premium Smart LED TV with Freeview Play
Was £2,199.99, now £965 from Amazon
Amazon have taken an unbelievable £1,200 off this 65-inch LG TV this Black Friday, and those with around 65 inches of wall space to spare are going to be thrilled.
The 65SK8000PLB features an IPS 4K Nano Cell Display (read: the modern picture quality barometer), an Alpha 7 processor (for seamless use of all its entertainment options), ThinQ AI (like an all-knowing assistant living in your TV), and 4K cinema HDR for the most dynamic viewing available.
Lenovo Ideapad 330-15IKB 15-inch Intel Core i3
Was £519, Now £279 from Currys PC World
As all-rounder laptops go, Lenovo has built quite a reputation on their everyday favourites. This Ideapad, in particular, not only has the tech specs to support all work and play but has a durable design that means it can be transported safely in any bag.
At over £200 off for Black Friday, it is also a steal, and has been selling very well so far. This model includes a huge 1TB hard drive for storage and dual Dolby speakers, as well as an Intel i3 processor.
Best Amazon deals
Fire HD 8 kids edition tablet
Amazon's Fire HD 8 kids tablet scored very highly in Telegraph Recommended's review earlier this year. Its parental controls were described as "second to none" and it was praised for offering a wide array of child-friendly apps, books and features. Its age range, around three to 12, is also impressive in its breadth.
Fire TV Stick 4K with Ultra HD All-New Alexa voice remote
Was £49.99, now £34.99 from Amazon
The Fire TV streaming stick, which lets you plug in and play thousands of programmes from streaming channels, including its own Prime Video as well as Netflix and iPlayer. It's also controlled via Alexa, so you don't even need to use the remote anymore.
Amazon Echo (2nd Gen) smart speaker with Alexa
By far one of the most popular devices of this year's Black Friday has been the Amazon Echo Dot. The sound has improved on previous generations, it looks much nicer, and as it's Alexa-controlled this means it can perform all sorts of tasks. From answering questions, telling you the news, weather or sports scores, setting alarms and controlling compatible smart home devices, this little device punches well above its weight (and size; and price).
The only snag, however, is that, because it's sold so well, it's out of stock until after Christmas (although you can pre-order now on Amazon and it's still available at Currys for £24.99 though if you can't wait.)
Amazon Kindle Paperwhite
The Kindle has remained the pre-eminent e-reader device for years, but this upgrade has added a feature avid readers have been after for almost a decade – waterproofing.
Never lose your precious books in the suds again with Amazon's new Paperwhite Kindle, which has a waterproofing rating of IPX8 (which means it can be immersed to one metre).

Best laptop and tablet deals
Google Pixelbook
Was £999, now £699 from Currys PC World
Google's Pixelbook was one of the best laptops you could buy last year. It comes with a flexible, flippable display so it can be used like a laptop or tablet, a ten-hour battery life and Chrome OS. Inside this model is a Intel i5 seventh generation processor, a pretty powerful punch for this price. It has £300 off right now, making it a great time to upgrade your tablet or laptop.
Apple MacBook Pro Core i7 Laptop
Was £2289.97, now £1699.97 from laptopsdirect.co.uk
Featuring intuitive touch bar technology, the Apple Macbook Pro combines sleek design with enhanced capabilities such as Touch ID, enhanced speakers and the brightest ever MacBook screen (which measures at 15 inches). Recommended for the usual list of tech specs, as well as simply being a nice laptop that's light and easy to use.
It isn't always the case Black Friday is flooded with Macbook offers, making this deal particularly eye catching, with a £590 discount.
Apple 9.7 inch iPad - 32 GB, Space Grey
Was £319, now £299 from Currys PC World
The iPad is the ultimate office status symbol. If you've got an iPad, people know you're a force to be reckoned with. Obviously it also helps that, you know, the iPad is just a really, really good tablet. It's perfectly balanced to do everything you need from reading eBooks to word processing to staying in touch with friends and family. The discount on this one may not be massive, but the device did only come out a few months ago, so it's nice to find any deals on it at all!
If you're looking for something just a bit bigger, Currys are also selling the 2017 edition of the iPad Pro starting at £569, a reduction of £50. This is technically an outdated model, now that the new one has been revealed, but that doesn't mean there's not lots to love about it! Our reviewer, James Titcomb, wrote: "The screen is gorgeous and it has loads of power – more, I suspect, than the apps designed for this thing can make use of. In truth, I can find very little to fault it."
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 inch tabletLiveSafe Premium 2019 & Folio Case Bundle
Was £278.98, now £149 from Currys PC World
A cheaper tablet that lacks some premium features, but it's ideal for the basics – watching films, playing games and editing documents. This model came out in 2016 and has 32 GB of storage, plus a microSD card slot lets you expand up to 200 GB – enough to save 160 films or 64,000 photos. The screen quality is pretty good, as is the Black Friday price, which also gets you a case and virus protection.

Samsung NU8000 55 inch TV
Was £1,199, now £726.99 from Amazon
This is a fantastic and under-promoted Black Friday deal on Amazon for a brilliant little television. When Telegraph Recommended visited Samsung's UK product testing centre, reviewer Jack Rear compared the product very favourably to Samsung's flagship model (for which the RRP is about £1,000 more) and expressed his enthusiasm for the voice remote and the beautiful pitch perfect picture. If you've been looking for a new TV, get this one.

Best mobile phone deals
iPhone 8
£29.99 upfront, £36 per month for 100GB data on Vodafone from Carphone Warehouse
It's not the newest iPhone, but the iPhone 8 was given a glowing review by The Telegraph's James Titcomb when it launched, and described as a "very fine phone indeed." With its 4.7inch display, stereo speakers and top camera, it's not hard to see why.
The 8 still doesn't come cheap, but this Black Friday deal should at least help limit the damage. According to Carphone Warehouse, it represents a saving of £460.
iPhone XS Max
£99.99 up front, £52 per month for 100GB on O2 from Carphone Warehouse
Revealed to great fanfare in September, the XS Max is one of Apple's new flagship phones. It has a 5.8 inch edge-to-edge screen, facial recognition technology to unlock the device, and allows you to have two phone numbers at once.
Our reviewer James Titcomb called it "the jumbotron phone for those who want it all", adding: "The iPhone XS Max... is the logical conclusion of smartphone gigantism. It is more of everything: more screen, more battery, and more damaging to your bank account: you pay a minimum of £1,099 for it."
Samsung Galaxy S9
£25 upfront from £28 per month from Mobiles.co.uk
The Samsung Galaxy S9 with an edge-to-edge infinity display, powerful processor and a redesigned 12MP camera with dual aperture lenses is now just £28 per month with Vodafone through Mobiles.co.uk. It is not as cheap as the cheapest deals we have seen on the Samsung Galaxy S9, but it does come with a huge 40GB of data every month.

Best Dyson deals
DYSON V7 Motorhead Cordless Bagless Vacuum Cleaner & Handheld Toolkit Bundle
Was £308.99, now £249 from Currys PC World

Dyson AM09 Hot & Cool Jet Focus fan heater in white/nickel
Was £399, now £299 from Currys PC World
If you find yourself struggling in both summer and winter (this year saw both the Beast from the East and a record summer heatwave), the chances are you're in need of a little alleviation.
Why buy a heater and a fan, when you can get both in one? Sure, it doesn't come cheap (though this Black Friday deal certainly helps ease the pain), but it's well worth it. Not only does it cool and heat, but in terms of control it doesn't get much better – the nine-hour timer, for example, allows you to set when you want it to run.
It's worth noting that there's also a black/nickel colour scheme available, also for £299 but exclusive to Dyson direct, who also offer a price promise to refund the difference if their prices go lower before 28 November.
Blows hot and cold, but in a good way.
