Black Diamond Fraternal Order of Police pool in Beckley seeks members for 2024 season
BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — Black Diamond Lodge 81 Fraternal Order of Police is seeking members to join the private pool during Summer 2024.
The pool, called the “policeman’s pool” or “FoP pool,” is open to those granted membership.
Raleigh County Sheriff Jim Canaday urged the public to fill out applications and return them by Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
Sheriff Canaday said the board will soon make a decision about whether there is enough interest to open the pool in 2024.

“I’d really like to see the FoP pool open. It was such a great benefit to the community last year,” Sheriff Canaday said on Friday, April 19, 2024. “We did well. We were actually able to give back to the community, with some donations this year, and I think, as of today, we’re only about halfway there as to the memberships we need.”
Membership is $275 per family and includes use of the pool throughout the summer.
Black Diamond Lodge 81 Fraternal Order of Police is hosting a bingo game on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Coal City Bing Hall on Main Street in Sophia.
Admission is $20 for 12 games. Games start at 6 p.m.
