Binder Park Zoo set to open for the season

NEWTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Binder Park Zoo is ready to open for the season on Wednesday.

President/CEO Diane Thompson says it will be the zoo’s 47th season and her team is eager to get started.

“We are incredibly excited to open for the season once again and welcome guests to Binder Park Zoo,” Thompson said in a statement. “With new exhibits, interactive experiences and a renewed commitment to wildlife conservation, we are dedicated to providing unforgettable moments for our guests while fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural world.”

The SkyLark Ridge ropes course and zipline will open for its second season, and the zoo will unveil a new permanent habitat for its “beloved” goats.

“These charming animals, adored by visitors of all ages, will now have a new home in the east zoo where they can roam, graze and delight guests with their playful antics,” the zoo stated.

Binder Park Zoo, which is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, cares for dozens of different types of animals, including 29 on AAZA Species Survival Plans.

Hours for the season are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Admission ranges from $14.75 to 17.75 per ticket. Children under the age of 2 get in for free.
