ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- The Buffalo Bills have placed Alex Carrington on season-ending injured reserve after the starting defensive end tore his left quadriceps.
The move was made on Monday, a day after he was hurt in the fourth quarter of a 27-20 loss to the New York Jets. Carrington was attempting to fight off a block when another player rolled up the back of his leg during Bilal Powell's 3-yard run up the middle.
Coach Doug Marrone said Carrington was scheduled to have surgery on Monday.
The Bills selected Carrington in the third round of the 2010 draft out of Arkansas State. After struggling to get playing time in his first three seasons, Carrington earned a starting job on the left side under new defensive coordinator Mike Pettine.
