The Bills placed rookie CB Ron Brooks on injured reserve with the new “designated to return” label. To fill Brooks’ spot on the roster, the Bills brought back WR Ruvell Martin.
Brooks, a fourth-round pick out of LSU, underwent surgery last week on his foot and head coach Chan Gailey told reporters he’d be a candidate for the new rule, which allows teams to place one player on injured reserve with a “major injury” who can be reactivated later in the season.
Per the Bills’ website, Brooks can return to practice in six weeks and can be active for a game in eight weeks. Click here for Brooks’ PFW scouting report.
Martin was released during the team’s final cuts. In 14 games last season, he had seven catches and 82 yards. He also had nine special-teams tackles.
