Bill Cosby Faces Sentencing in Sexual Assault Case
Shamed comedian Bill Cosby, who faces up to three decades in prison following a guilty verdict on three counts of sexual assault, is about to learn his fate.
The 81-year-old arrived at a Pennsylvania courthouse Monday for a two-day sentencing hearing. He was convicted in April of drugging and molesting Andrea Constand in 2004.
Constand will make a statement during the hearing, according to multiple reports.
She said she first met Cosby in 2002, when she served as director of operations for Temple University's women’s basketball team. At the time, Cosby was on the college's board of trustees, and she considered him a mentor.
The former Temple basketball player testified that she was helpless to stop Cosby’s sexual advances after the comedian gave her some wine and three blue pills “to take the edge off."
Cosby first faced a judge in the sexual assault case in 2017, but the trial resulted in a hung jury.
Five other accusers testified against Cosby during the retrial, including former model Janice Dickinson, who was seen entering court for the sentencing hearing.
Cosby faces 10 years in prison for each of the three counts.
