Bill’s Blog: Severe weather spotter training starts today

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Severe weather spotter training starts Saturday in West Michigan.

Here’s the schedule:

Go to weather.gov/grr/spottertraining for more detailed information. I hope to get to the meetings in Hudsonville on March 28 and Muskegon on April 27. I have a birthday party to go to on Saturday for a boy who is very interested in the weather, so I won’t be coming to today’s meetings.

It’s fun to chat with other weather geeks and there is always some interesting new information about severe storms. With our El Nino ending and a possible La Nina developing, we should see a fairly active severe weather season in the U.S. this year.

Also, the national high and low temperatures for Friday, March 8, 2024, are 92 degrees at Falcon Village, Texas, and -42 degrees at Peter Sinks, Utah. That’s a difference of 134 degrees!
