I had wondered what J.J. Watt was thinking about while he was on his knee at the sidelines just before the half. I like to think it goes like this, “Well, shit.”

It just never got any better for Houston. So many mistakes were made by the Texans; fumbles, sacks, back to back pass interferences, turnovers, not making a single play in the second half and one really big problem; not scoring.

They were just in over their head and didn’t know what to do but hang on. One could make a meme of all coaches everywhere getting interviewed at the half while getting shelled by the Patriots, “We’ll just regroup during the half and make adjustments. We’re still in this.”

I guess no one told them that the Patriots are 76-0 when leading at the half, at home and that quarterbacks under Bill Belichick, in their first career start, are 6-0. I continue to be baffled that there are still doubters to the University of Bill Belichick: How to Do Your Job 101.

It’s not about disliking Bill Belichick or any player in particular, it’s about turning an ignorant shoulder to the supreme authority that the Patriots’ organization has on football and labeling it cheating. I suppose I’ll be mystified by this for a long time.

The Texans could not execute a single play to avoid being shut out against a third string quarterback. That’s not even a dig against Brissett because he certainly didn’t look third string. One or two overthrows early in the first quarter is all that was evident of any nervousness Jacoby Brissett may have had.

Thursday’s game was the ninth shutout under Bill Belichick and 26th in the team’s history. I’ll leave it to Bill to be succinct, “We had a lot of guys who worked very hard this week…very gratifying.”
