Bill to allow school employees to carry guns passes Iowa House

A bill allowing employees to carry guns on school grounds has passed the Iowa House.

The Students First Safety Act (House Study Bill 675) allows for the creation of professional permits that allow employees to have firearms. The bill also provides $50 in matching funds to districts that hire school resource officers or private security officers.

The bill now goes to the Senate for consideration.
