Bike ferry linking Burlington, Colchester causeway, Champlain islands is back in action

The Island Line Bike Ferry is back in action this week, letting cyclists link their routes between Burlington, the Colchester causeway and the Lake Champlain islands.

The ferry that makes the 200-foot connection between the gap in the causeway opens for the season Friday, May 24. Operated by Local Motion, the ferry runs for the spring season from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Sunday, June 16. Service will also be offered on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27.

Summer hours from Monday, June 17 through Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 2, will be from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.

Fall hours revert to the spring schedule starting Friday, Sept. 6 through Monday, Oct. 14, which is Indigenous Peoples Day. The ferry will run in the fall from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.
