Big walleyes, pike from Devils Lake highlight this week's Nice Fish list

Sep. 4—Walleye released 25-inch minimum

28 inches — Anya Jonas, Pine Haven, Wyo., Devils Lake.

26 inches — Rich Thorpe, Prior Lake, Minn., Devils Lake.

Northern pike released 36-inch minimum

42 inches — Ryan Bacon, Granville, N.D., Devils Lake.

Chinook salmon kept 12-pound minimum

12 pounds, 2 ounces — Luke Thompson, Grand Forks, Lake Sakakawea.

Qualifying fish

The Herald's Nice Fish entries follow the minimum size guidelines set by the North Dakota Game and Fish Department for its Whopper and Catch and Release Clubs. Minimum sizes for several popular species include:

Northern pike: 36 inches released; 20 pounds kept.

Walleye: 25 inches released; 8 pounds kept.

Channel catfish: 30 inches released; 12 pounds kept.

Perch: 13 inches released; 1 pound, 12 ounces kept.

White bass: 16 inches released; 3 pounds kept.

Bluegill: 10 inches released; 1 pound, 4 ounces kept.

Crappie: 13 inches released; 1 pound, 8 ounces kept.

Largemouth bass: 18 inches released; 5 pounds kept.

Smallmouth bass: 18 inches released; 3 pounds kept.

Tiger muskie: 40 inches released; 30 pounds kept.

Pure muskie: 40 inches released; 30 pounds kept.
