Big Salt Wash closed for improvements

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Officials have closed a popular sidewalk trail in Fruita for fire mitigation improvements.

Lower Valley Fire District, along with Rivers Edge West and the City of Fruita are working on the Big Salt Wash trail.

A strike team will be treating and cutting the regrowth of invasive species to mitigate fire risks in Fruita. Big Salt Wash trail will be closed while the strike team uses the chipper along the trail.

LVFD asks trail users to take caution when in this area and to follow the signage along the trail.
