Give Big Kern raises over $1.5 million in donations for non-profit organizations

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Give Big Kern broke a personal record in fundraising last week.

On May 7, Give Big Kern Official Giving Day helped raise $1,529,018 and 22,067 pledged hours for 131 nonprofits in Kern County, the Kern Community Foundation said through a news release.

Formula drift driver races against the stereotypes

Funds raised from Give Big Kern will go towards the operational budgets of participating nonprofits. Some of the organizations include arts and culture, social services and environmental conservation.

Residents began donating as early as April 7. Give Big Kern was created to for community members to show support for organizations that improve the community, raise money and volunteer hours for nonprofits through online crowdfunding, matching gifts and pledges.
