5. Police: Man shot during ‘altercation’ with homeowner in south Abilene

Police told KTAB/KRBC a 29-year-old man was shot in a residential area of South Abilene on Wednesday. At last update, the man was in serious condition at a local hospital and no arrests had been made.

4. UPDATE: Armed student detained at Coleman ISD

A Coleman ISD was taken into custody Thursday morning after school officials were made aware of an alarming social media post suggesting the student would take a firearm to school.

3. Abilene woman arrested in connection to a fatal motorcycle crash

Abilene police arrested Brenda Wise last Friday, accusing her of second degree Felony Accident Involving Death. This charge stems from a July 2023 motorcycle crash which took the life of Baird man, Nathaniel Ralph.

2. What would you do? Abilene woman receives water bill for nearly $1 million

An Abilene water customer was shocked to find that the city was billing her more than $900,000 for water consumption she couldn’t have possibly used.

Debbie Vicray told reporter Tobin Smith she called the water department to resolve the issue before her auto pay hit, but it was too late.

In an update this week, Vicray said the city apologized to her, waived the outlandish charge, as well as this month’s usage.

1. UPDATE: Truck rolls over, kills man working underneath in Callahan County

While working under a vehicle last Friday in Callahan County, the vehicle somehow reversed, killing a local man. Police are investigating and have not released his identity.
